Program Goals: Prosumers International is a consumer-run organization that has monthly peer discussion support groups for consumers, survivors and ex-patients of mental health services. Our meetings are designed to inform you, educate you, inspire you and help you to be the best you, you can be. There are a variety of topics that focus on mental health education, advocacy, wellness, and recovery. A Prosumer is someone who is proactive in their own recovery and gives back to the community. Many of our members return to work, school, volunteer and/or become Certified Peer Specialist in the state of Texas.
Have any outcomes for this program been assessed through internal or external research? Yes
If Yes, details: ViaHope is the only state approved agency to certify peer specialist in Texas. When they surveyed certified peers about related-education they received, the majority of them had participated in Prosumers and/or it's Focus for Life workshop.
Program Mission Statement: Our mission is to empower all people to know that recovery from mental issues is possible, and that all people live powerful fulfilled lives on their terms. Many people will find recovery accidently. We believe that recovery should be on purpose. We've been empowering individuals in their mental health recovery for the past years.
